Meet the Bichon Frise

Looking for the perfect companion?
Look no further! The Bichon Frise may be the perfect fit for you. Known for its cheery personality, we swear that our Bichons SMILE!=) They love attention and will charm their way into your heart.
In the 13th century a Water Spaniel and a Poodle were bred together, creating the Bichon Frise! Bichons were popular among the French royal courts in the 16th century. They were known for their entertaining nature, leading Bichons to be used as a circus dogs.
The Bichon Frise are a healthy bunch, living anywhere from 15-20 years. They do require regular grooming as they have hair (just like their human companions)...this also means that they are great for humans with allergies! Bichons are adaptable to many environments. Their plush coat will keep them warm and is a joy to pet.
The AKC (American Kennel Club) has recognized the Bichon Frise as a registered breed since 1972. It is currently a member of the non sporting group. The AKC describes the Bichon Frise as "A cheerful, happy dog, the Bichon Frise is small and sturdy with a dark-eyed inquisitve expression and a plumed tail that carries merrily over the back. The breed is often compared to a cotton ball due to its curled double coat, which consists of a textured outer coat and a silky undercoat. The coat must be white, but may have shadings of buff, cream, or apricot around the ears or on the body."
